AdoptUSkids had an ad campaign where they showed some well-meaning foster parents making cringeworthy attempts at caring for a child. It was nothing harmful. They just weren’t perfect. It is obvious, however, that the adults featured in the ads care for the children.
The tagline is, “You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent.”
We have tools for study, edification, and evangelism at our fingertips (literally, with touchscreens!).
Are we doing what we can with them? How can you use them, and what can you do?
Love souls.
Jesus came on a search and rescue mission for all people (Luke 19:9, 10; Matt 28:18-20; Acts 1:6-8; 15:14-18). We must press forward with the urgency of the knowledge that any accountable person who leaves this life without knowing God and obeying the gospel will be separated from Him in destruction for all eternity (2 Thes 1:6-10).
Plan to use what you’ve got.
God does not expect us to use what we do not have, does He? But it is abundantly clear that we are responsible for using what is at our disposal in His service (Matt 25:14-30). We sing a song based on the thought of Matt 10:42, “If just a cup of water I place within your hand, then just a cup of water is all that I demand.”
Use what you’ve got.
That’s it. We aren’t told to “be great at it, ” though you will improve as you use any tool you can for any opportunity.
You don’t have to be “great” to be a great servant of God.
God has already got the great part down.
We were told to go (Matt 28:18-20).
It’s our job to sow (Matt 13).
God gives the increase (1 Cor 3:6).
So, what do we have that we can use?
Of primary importance, we have the Bible more readily available in more forms than in all of human history (unless you are in a country where they are trying to remove it digitally, but that’s another story).
Supplementing our work, we have several tools. We have tracts and periodicals you can take, read, and share with others. Use our library. Talk to me or the elders, and we would be happy to direct you to resources for your edification.
We have a Facebook page and a website, houstonparkcoc.com. To boost the congregation’s online visibility to the community, click like on the Facebook page, follow the page, and share content.
There you go. It’s in your hands.
Let’s use what we’ve got to God’s glory, and He will make it fruitful.
Love.
Plan.
Do.
