No Partiality

“For there is no partiality with God.” – Rom 2:11

Partiality is an unfair bias in favor of one thing or person over another.

Favoritism.

It is a blessing that there is only one God and that He is perfect. He is Who He is and there is no fear of change from Him.

“Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land
which that Lord your God is giving you for all time.” – Deut 4:39,40

The Old Testament and New Testament both emphasize that God shows no partiality to any person (Deut 10:17; Acts 10:34; Rom 2:11). Why is this a good thing?

There is no guessing when it comes to what God expects us to do. He reveals His will. “Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” – Amos 3:7

The beauty of no partiality is that every person has the same ability and responsibility to follow the commandments of God. He has clearly revealed His will through the Holy Spirit-inspired writers. It is up to us to access the scriptures and decide to follow the commands of God to receive the blessings of His promises.

True hope, peace, security, and assurance come from the knowledge of His revealed will and the fact that every individual person is held to the exact same standard. Jude 3 states that “…the faith was once for all delivered to the saints.”

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me.’” – John 14:6
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and
through all, and in you all.” – Eph 4:4-6

There is no true hope if there is more than one way. There is no true hope if there is confusion and assumption. True hope comes from knowledge and assurance, through one God and His revealed expectations for every person. We must come to Him on His terms.

God gives us 2 options: life or death.

“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil…I call heaven and earth
as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and
cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” – Deut 30:15,19

Only obedience has the promise of life in Christ. God revealed what He expects from us in the New Testament. He also showed numerous examples of the consequences of disobedience to His revealed will throughout the Old Testament.

I choose to obey because I know that God will only judge me on the things He has directly communicated through His Word. He is just and eternal.

God promises eternal life for all who obey and all who obey will receive those promises.
