What Did Peter’s Wife Look Like?

We don’t know, but it’s likely you would have seen her around as Peter was serving.

Paul said that Peter (Cephas) took his wife along (1 Cor 9:5). Every other place “take along” is used, it is regarding travel.

He was married when he began to be a disciple of Christ’s. Jesus healed his mother-in-law (Mark 1:29-31).

Though he had his struggles with faithfulness, it is evident that he was mature in the faith later in life. He was an elder of the church (1 Pet 5:1-4). His faithful wife would have been a big part of Peter cultivating and portraying the characteristics of a shepherd of the church. Therefore, it is more than likely his wife was one of great beauty, as he described how faithful women ought to be earlier in his epistle.

“Do not let your adornment be merely outward – arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel – rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God" (1 Pet 3:3, 4, Unless otherwise stated: Scripture is taken from the New King James Version®. I don’t know what Peter’s wife looked like, but I have a good guess that she had an internal beauty that shone through her words, actions, and demeanor. She would have been a tremendous reason for his success as an apostle of Christ, an elder, and a preacher.

Even without a word about her, her godly presence is known.

What do you look like?
